Roid Rage

With Basebal *cough boring cough* season swiftly approaching I felt this random rant was very necessary.

In our society today we are constantly trying to enhance ourselves, and our way of life. Some of us dedicate ourselves to the hard work necessary for natural enhancement others simply play their hand as dealt, others however use other ways and means to enhance themselves quickly, or with greater results than can be naturally achieved. Recently Mark Mcgwire confessed to having had used PEDs. Baseball has villified so many because of steroids as well as many other sports. I understand the necessity of keeping sports clean, and the desire to prevent cheating. However I feel the ensuing wrath is what is ridiculous. Every athlete as far as we know is human, and therefore imperfect. They are not to be regarded as the flawless, invincible, and infallible kryptonian we all know and love. They will make mistakes, and when presented with an opportunity to gain an upper hand, take it. It is human nature. We demand so much of each other. We praise the alpha humans and ridicule the weak. This is why we as a society go to great lengths to enhance ourselves. Men want to be better in bed so we use performance Enhancers, women want better figures, or looks so they use push up bras, girdles, and booty pops(Google it booty pop) even those in the performing arts use drugs to enhance their creativity. We want to see these things happen because we are satisfied with the ends as long as we never find out the means. Would Jordans dunks have been any less entertaining if we found out he used PEDs? What about Marinos TD passes, Gretzkys goals, or Tysons KOs? We say it can't count because sports greatness is determined by recordable stats, most of all in Baseball with its immense collection of statistics and records, but all stats can be skewed or fluffed. If I shoot and make one basket a game for an entire NBA Season won't I have a 100% field goal percentage? I say we monitor PEDs just like we have every other medical advance that goes beyond the natural order of things(tommy john surgery, etc) let them use it. We want them to run faster and jump higher anyway, besides strength or speed does not equal talent, ability, or skill(see Devin Hester) either that or in the great book of things we put an asterisk next to the name of every man who caused an orgasm while on viagra, and every woman who got a free drink in thr club while wearing a girdle or push up bra
